This is'nt a 3rd gen question,sorry

I have searched the net and can't find any information on reprograming obd 2.I know about the power programmer.But I have a laptop and would like software for that.I already have a cable to link my pc to the diag port.

What type of car do you have? The software out there is normally made for one car and does not work for every car. Mostly American cars from what I’ve seen.

Someone has given you bad information. That car is still OBDI but has to be flash programmed through the ALDL unless you desolder the prom, which has actually been done. Go to the link given by Bruce above as that is the cheapest and only fair software for the LT1. The other one that I can think of is more than twice as expensive and can only be used on the vehicle is was bought for. They control it by VIN.
