Aftermarket memcal?

I just pulled my ECM and looked at my memcal and the chips are just pushed into little metal clips (no solder). Is this normal/stock? I thought the stock chips were soldered to the memcal. If not stock does anyone know where I can purchase another one? This would eliminate alot of work and I could just push a ZIF socket right in. This is a 1227165 ECM (reman) and the memcal ID is ARAR.

Did you try to pry the prom out? Odds are it is soldered, just difficult to see it. Also if it looks like a factory type label on it and it says ARAR, and it is an auto 89 vette with the 2.59 rear diff. then its highly likely to be the original. If its not soldered and you want a another complete carrier with prom just call the chevy dealer.
