6E -- Does startup spark include tables, or just base + startup
Hi guys,
I have a 327 with 6E Maf and a Stealth Ram. I did a lot of logging and tuning a while ago, but haven't gotten back to more fine tuning until now.
Does the intial timing rely on the main timing table at all when the engine is cranking and first catches, or is it just base (set at the distributor) plus the startup spark table?
Also, how does the cold spark table in 6E work. In tunerpro 4, the values are zeroed out at operating temperature. At colder temps, I see anywhere from 5 to 20 degrees. Is this really added on to the timing table? This seems like a LOT of timing if the car is running 10 degrees across the board on top of the timing table.

Cranking is just base timing at the distributor.
Startup is added to main timing and coolant timing for the first few moments above 400RPM.
Coolant temp timing has an offset value (stock is 20 degrees). Tunerpro 4.x can be set up to "see" that offset and subtract it to show you the actual extra advance or offset. Check your XDF for that table to see if it's looking at the offset.
Base timing as shown does NOT need to be added to the other values in the table to get the final advance. Set the base timing in the chip to match the distributor and FORGET ABOUT IT, for now.
Same for 8D.
