PE vs RPM Thresholds

Stock values for PE vs RPM normal temp in the 90Vette bin are 70%. What guidelines are used for tweaking these? What I mean is it just where I like them? Does enabling PE at say 40% have any adverse effect? I have them set to 90% currently for upper RPM VE tweaking and the car feel just as powerful.

I'm not sure of any adverse effects from lowing PE(other than poor fuel mileage), but if you raise it too much I can see where it would run too lean/hot(in the cylinder) and could potentially cause a meltdown. As Grumpy always says-read the plugs-that should tell you if you went to far. Personally I'm leaving it at 70% as I've still got a lot of other areas to dial in yet.

Having a high TPS threshold for engagin PE is fine for "tuning" the VE tables to avoid it giving you "weird" results.

But once, you are close, I prefer a lower TPS setting. I find that when the PE kicks in, it feels like the secondaries opening up on a 4 BBL carb.

I set my table last night to the following values:

400 60%
1200 50%
2000 45%
3200 45%
4800 45%

This seemed to make a huge difference. I gave my buddy a ride last night that has not ridden in the car since I built the 396. I started out in first and at about 15MPH or so I nailed it and almost lost control. The rear end was fishtailing all around. The power is just wicked. A quick shift into second and she still just lights the big 285's up. I'm sure I have way too much torque with the SR setup than I can use but its sure alot of fun!

That is very close to what I run. Once you get the VE Tables very close (which I know you have), you can actually feel it when you give it just over 1/2 throttle. As I said before, it feels like the secondaries kicking in on a 4 BBL carb.

I wouldn't go too much lower though or you end up wasting gas and it could effect your emissions testing.
