Can anyone link to or e-mail me the electrical schematic for the ALDL/serial interface they used.

I have found about 6 or 7 diagrams, all different. I have no idea which one will work and which one won't. I know what they are *supposed* to do and which baud rates they are at, but I just want to be sure I don't nuke my ECM (or my brothers laptop) when I hook it up.

Most involve the use of the MAX232A chip which is coming in the mail. But some of the diagrams get power from the ALDL and some from the DB9 serial port (?). I didn't think that the circuit could get enuf power from the DB9 to run.

TIA

Well, LIKE, at least I got LIKE, a response from someone. Seems to me that most of you don't know anything, OR just don't like to help anyone outside of your little circle of programming friends.

In regards to the O2 sensor thing, it was an attempt at humor I guess you didn't grab, or didn't agree with SORRY!

I'm sure some of you know a millions times more about this than me, it just sux that when I need help nobody responds, which is ok if I ask a rediculous question.

What I asked for was far from rediculous because I know some of have made an interface cable and the plan probably didn't fall from the sky.

Don't be a dork. There are a variety of schematics and most work. Pick one which matches your skill level and build it. Then try another one for fun. Then design your own...

Try one which uses +12v supply from the cigarette lighter, then you won't drain your com port and you won't have any voltage to/from the ECM... Max 232 or 233 have both worked for many...

All of them can be powered from the cigarette lighter outlet, just use a 7805 voltage regulator to get 5 volts.... And don't forget to put a fuse inline in case you should short something out!

I bought a completed cable from here http://www.mindspring.com/~amattei/aldl.htm

Andrew does a great job and sent it to me very quickly.

He has free schematics on his site. He has kits and assembled cables you can buy.
