Connecting DIY ALDL via Printer Port

I got the DIY ALDL connector built, but i don't have a serial -> serial cable. Apparently their hard to find at the local stores. But i do have a serial -> printer port cable. Will this work and if so how? I can't seem to get any software to see it. I'm useing craig moates software for my car. Any help is appreciated.

Good thing you got a serial cable because I don't think you could have done it the other way.

Nope, can't do it /w/ parallel. I think there's a Diacom clone schematic floating around, and that might work with the appropriate software, but most of the DIY stuff is serial.
