Do you see any reason this would not be possible?

Do you see any reason this would not be possible?

This topic may or may not fit into this group but you guys are the guru's of PROM burning and thought you may have done a PROM for an engine like this.

I have a SBC 415 retrofitted with a Speed Density TPI, I run 10.5:1 compression with cast vette heads and a moderate Comp Cam 262/270. .462/.480 headers and dual exhaust. I am running 24lb injectors and 39 lbs of fuel pressure.

Can you see any reason why somebody with the knowledge could not make this work? Engine runs but the headers are glowing under moderate driving. I have no intention of high RPM use so the 24 lb injectors should be fine.

Anybody done a PROM for an engine similar? And what problems did yo have?

Thanks for your time,

Mark

What are your BLM values? Are you getting an SES code? If you're not running too lean (which would trigger the SES), then I'd say your timing is too retarded or you have an exhaust restriction (plugged/melted cat?). What is your base timing and how much total timing do you have in the range that your engine operates in during moderate driving? Retarded timing causes the combustion process to continue while the fuel/air charge is starting to leave the engine via the exhaust valve, which would heat up the headers and causing them to glow. Just a shot in the dark...

Yeah, sounds like the timing is retarded and/or you are not getting ANY spark advance from your distributor... ie, broken ignition module, timing check connector not hooked-up...
