Found a sure fire way to use serial ALDL cable with USB

HI guys, I have a home made 2 transistor ALDL cable I use to log my '165 ECU at 8192 baud. I used to use an old laptop with a real serial port ,but that PC is falling apart on me. I have a new laptop with only USB, and I tried several USB to serial converters with no luck. I found one that definitely works at 8192 with Tunerpro. I did have to make one major, simple change to its settings to get it to log.

The adaptor is a Keyspan USA-19HS. It's available in stock at CompUSA and other stores.

After installing the Keyspan drivers, you have to go to control panel --> system--> hardware --> device manager --> Ports (com and lpt)

Then find the Keyspan (it must be plugged in and have the drivers installed already) and go to its properties. One of the tabs has a utility/wizard that allows you to access the settings for the Keyspan. It lets you select dynamic or global assignment. By default it is set to dynamic. Change this to Global. This should re assign it from Com8 to Com 5. Make sure that Tunerpro is set to Com5 under the properties section for ALDL.

It works! The Keyspan adapter cost around $30 and is totally worth it. No more headaches.
