next problem...396 hot start problems

Hi all

maybe some of you read and contributed in my topic https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...fine-than.html

now, the car starts wonderful when cold, but dont start , or starts very hard, when hot..

i made a testdrive today, parked the car a short time sideways (fans not running), started again..everything ok
...

then i come home, and the fan was running, so i had about 90°coolant temp

shuted the car off, wanted to start again...crank....no start...

i have to say, i have taken out some pulswidth in the crank fuel puls width vs coolant temp in the the whole table...also, start up enrichment was set to only 3% between 92 and 116°
the crank fuel pw vs coolant was 0.8msecs between 86 and 104°
i changed the pulswidth back to 1.2msec, and the Startup enrichment to 5.1%..car starts fine when hot

so, my final question..could this have been the problem?

is it that sensitive?the former PW with the 42 inj was 0.8msec, maybe, thats just too short?

thank you for your answers!!

.8 msec (if that was the actual PW) won't even open a 42 pph saturation style injector. It may drizzle a little fuel out.

Startup enrichment is NOT used during cranking. Only once RPMs are above 400.

yes, the 0.8 msecs was the PW..... i had 0.8msecs from 86 to 104°......

so, it was just on the border..now, with 1.2msecs the car starts fine..should i let it alone, or go to 1.6msec?

thank you

Keep trying to see what seems to be best, and don't be afraid to go back and forth to compare. It's what tuning is all about!

hi

with the 1.2msecs the car starts real fine, when hot..so i think, i will stay there...

but, i know, what you mean..i had a long fight to eliminate some surging, and also bogging when changing throttle.....i alswys thought, i am too lean..in fact, i was overly rich, that caused the bogging....

su much to learn and try....

thank you
