I don't understand!!!

I have an 85 Z28 upgraded from 305 TPI to 350 with 305 TPI. Anyways I know I need a different PROM and other things. I was looking at a PROM from 87 I think. Anyways are 350 PROMs from Firebirds the same as Camaros. I need help NOW. Thanks

Yes the PROMs for Camaros and Firebirds are the same (for comparable engines/transmissions/gears). However, 1985 is a "one off" year for TPI and the poorest defined of the calibrations. Only a 1985 will work on a 1985. You could look at changing your ECM to the later 7165 used from 1986-1989.

The 1985 TPI is a one-off setup, different from '86 up. To use software other than '85 you'd need to swap ECMs. Mike Davis documented this process very well at:

http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/ecm_swap/

After upgrading to the later '165 ECM you can use later software and have better options if you want to get into chip burning.
