Two-Transistor Interface

I've been looking around at schematics for different ALDL interface cables and found several different variations. Could someone with the 7165 let me know the cable that they are "really" using, some of the schematics say that you should run another 10k resistor in series with the base on the upper transistor, some say this is for a lotus aldl, some say you need to put a 10k resistor between the a+b terminals... I could try all of these, but I'm afraid I'd mess something up, so if someone has a working two-transistor config that they use on a 7165 I'd really like to hear from ya.

Thanks!

Ok...this is what I've read:

*If you use the two transistor interface you have to put a 10k resistor on the upper transistor.

*To initiate communications to the ECM (ALDL mode) you need to set a 10k between the A-B pins.( if you short A-B you get diag.mode and if you get 3,9 k you get factory test mode)

I would'nt run the two transistor deal if it isnt a 160 baud ecm, go for the MAX 232 interface instead.

Well i just got the cable to work today with Craig Moates software. The schematic I used came from this websight http://www.andywhittaker.com/ecu/aldl_hardware.htm I also used a 10k resistor between the A and B pins and got the 12V from the cigarette lighter.

I have got the 2 transistor interface to link perfectly. It works fine with Craig's software although I don't know which version of the software I am currently using.

Is it possible to use the two transistor cable with Craig moates software on a 8192 baud ECM?
