Hypertec thermo master piggy back chip
Hypertec thermo master piggy back chip
I'm going to reprogram a 93 camaro chip to work in my Monte Carlo. I found it has a hypertec performance piggy back chip. Would it benefit me to keep the piggy back performance chip and just replace the camaro eprom and delete the stuff from the program that i don't want in the original camaro chip. I've been told to just take the Hypertech chip out and just put my new chip in it's place. Opinions??

I think you have been told wrong.
The ECM electronics on a 93 Camaro are very different then what was factory for a Monte Carlo (assuming the 80's model here). They are incompatible.

Sorry ,, I was wondering how plain that came across. I'm swapping in a 93 LT1 of which I bought harness, ecm and all. The ecm had a hypertech thermo master piggy back chip in it . I was wondering if it would be to my advantage to leave it in and reprogram a fresh eprom to take the place of the Delco one.

The piggy back most likely intercepts information then manipulates it and lies to the ecm. This makes the ecm add more fuel or whatever the lie is about... If you are going to reprogram your own chip then it is assumed that you probably have some skills in reading datalogs and determininig what changes need to be done.
With that in mind then, I would NOT use the piggy back chip. You'll just be fighting it when you make changes to your bin. You won't really be making direct changes because your changes get modified...
Good luck and read the stickies at the top of the board.
