Australian $12 mask ID and auto installation on '165

I've had a $12 ID calibration running in my VS Commodore manual on a '165 ECM that I had hanging around.

I've just set it up in a mate's VQ Statesman with a T700 trans, and everything works fine (especially the 8192 baud logging!) except I can't find the bit switch that selects an auto configuration, so I don't have any TCC control.

I can switch the TCC using EFILive bidirectional control, but I'm using an Ostrich and Tunerpro with a public domained .XDF and there are no bit switch descriptions (and nothing when opened with Word either).

The other thing I'm looking for is the switch for the lean cruise code.

Any help gratefully received (especially from Adrian or Ryan... or anyone really ).

John

the $12 was only used in manual configuration but I'd imagine if it did work on an auto then it would look at the p/n switch to determine the configuration (as with $5d).
The lean cruise switch is at $000C bit 4.
Cheers,
Adrian

Thanks for that info Adrian. I understand that the $12 was used only for manuals, but tantalisingly the XDF has the TCC items and it's possible to control the idle in tables F13D and P (Desired RPM in drive [and F13P park] vs Battery Voltage), which is auto stuff (there's also table F13 M for manual).

This code is much more developed than $5D and it would be wonderful to be able to switch the TCC on with it. Given that the TCC responds to a direct command through EFILive, it would be a real shame if there's not some way of making the $12 software do the same thing.

Ta,

John

All the auto stuff is in the code and works fine. It selects auto/manual by looking at the p/n switch so make sure that is working by using ALDL mode 3 to get RAM location 0x0073, look at bit 4 - its clear when in park or neutral.

Have a look at byte 27 in the ALDL mode 1 msg 0 stream - it will tell you if auto or manual is being selected - one of the major loops chooses either shiftlight or TCC routine depending on manual or auto.

Thanks Ryan,
It sounds like it may have a crook P/N switch.

What software are you using to check the ALDL stream?

Cheers,

John

cabytes works well if you just want the raw data stream, like to see flags such as the p/n. I use other software (not available..yet) for viewing things with guages and pretty pictures
