Poor man TBI muliport swap works!

Hello all,

I recently had a kid bring me a 4.3L TBI S-truck that he swapped a 350 TPI engine in.. He cut the TBI plugs off and spliced 4 injectors on each side. When he called me to see if I'd look at it I was initially pretty skeptical. To my surpise the truck actually tuned in fairly nicely and it all works pretty darn good!

I thought this might give some courage to those thinking about doing the swap. I wouldn't reccomend it for any performance minded application but a truck motor that wants a little more torque and a little better fuel effeciency can probally stand to benifit with a swap like this.

Its basically a poor man's edelbrock MFPI swap.

Itll work, but the TBI injector firing stratagy isnt the best for MPFI. Better to use a TPI computer, or if its a later model truck, change the PCM over to do MPFI instead of TBI.

As long as the RPM is kept reasonable this works out decently. I am somewhat surprised that more people haven't done this. Although that may be because most of the time folks are modifying things it also means more HP along with the higher RPM that comes with it.

It meets the needs of a engine that is in a truck.
