Newbie, several questions.

I'm new to this, I tryed looking into it a few years ago and it blew my mind so I never tryed. I've tryed to get around this, but my new car forces me to learn. Ive read(and still reading) some of the stickys and searched. I cant always comprehend what I read, so it may be there, I'm just not "seeing" what I need. But I have found some, and some crap I didnt know.

I'll start with what I have, then where I want to go, and what I need to order and looking for.

Have:
91 350TBI, 5sp running on 8746 305auto prom. I think it has a cam in it, but it idles like complete crap.
Laptop with windows "extra problems". LOL
Moates ALDL cable
moates G3-Ex (was going to use on old car)
Last night downloaded the 305TBI-5sp bin.
I was looking at it with mask 6de I belive(prob wrong)... tell my brain started smoking.

Where I want to go:
Upfront, I feel I need to take a trucks 350 fuel/timing chart, and replace that on the 305 camaro bin? Hopefully net a few HP, but mostly idle issues, driveabilty, and MPG.
Long term, learn coding on this TBI motor. Hopefully later this year I will be swapping to TPI and will bealbe to make my changes easier. I would like to keep editing with same program for learning issues.

What I feel I need to get (correct me if I'm wrong. I plan to order most/all from moates as I have dealt with him before). Any suggestions/corrections, please let me know.
G2X adapter
Burn1 programmer
Tunerpro Editer/datalog
S1 Zif as I am guessing I will be swapping alot(any idea if he will solder this onto my G2X for me?)

I am not sure which "prom" I need on his site. I see digikey is another popular site, but what is the part number to a 2732A EEPROM? Will EEPROMs work on moates burn1? How many should I order?

I tryed searching for what the code/bin is for a silvarado 350TBI 5sp, and couldnt find it. Can someone help me out here on this.

I found that I should be reading my camaro bin with a $61.xdf file, which I cant find for download as it looked like most people just email them around. Also, which XDF file will I need for that above truck bin?

Then in a few weeks, I'm sure I will be asking some more newbie questions, and asking you to hold my hand and walk me thru the first few chips.

Re: Newbie, several questions.

what injectors are you running? the 305 ones i presume. you'll need to get new ones prolly from a ol caprice or so. also the adapter on moates is so you can use eeproms the 2732a eprom is only uv erasable wich is what I use because I built a uv eraser but eeproms would be so much easier for the fact you can just prom right on top onf them. id take a very simple aproach to tuning. constants then flags then variables you should check through some of my threads as this is how it was all shown to me

Ok, some messed up info in my orginal post. I have the 8746 ecm.

I dont know what injectors it is running. I know the car is not erroring out when I scan it. I'll try to search on your user name in the next few days when I get the time.

try craig moates website. i believe you will find it.

i would just run the 305 tbi-manual trans bin and change the BPC accordingly.

BPC?

I looked on moates site, I need to know what code it is, then I'm sure he has it.

Re: Newbie, several questions.

BASE PULSE CONSTANT. varies by engine size, injector size, and fuel pressure. it needs to be set correctly in your tune(Tunerpro). there is a formula that is used to determine it.

Re: Newbie, several questions.

ok, so I could possibly look at that off a 350 code, and apply it to the 305-5sp bin. Or I searched on the formula, and If I'm correct, my BPC should = 75.131549?

Did some searching while awaiting response. It appears most people changed the BPC for throttle response.

Re: Newbie, several questions.

yes assuming fuel pressure and injector size the same. it simply tells the ECU what you have under hood.
