Possible BIG problem => HELP !!!

Hello,

I think I have a huge problem.
I changed the chip without disconnecting the battery.
And now the car woun't start annymore.
It ran fine before.

Could it be that the ECM is broken ?
How can I test it ?

Thank's
Dieter

I don't believe you need to disconnect the battery to change the chip. I do that all the time. Though, you have to have the ignition off or you could damage the chip.

Try unplugging the ECM, leave it for about a minute, and then plugging it back in.

OK,

I can start with the chip removed, make a litle trip.
When I replace the chip, it woun't start annymore.
I tryed the stock chip and 2 custom's, all the same.

I am tinking that it could be possible I didn't even turn off the ignition.

So I wil now try to burn the chip again, maybe this wil help.

It seems to be solved.
I erased the chip and burn the bin on it agean.
It runs like before.

I probably had the ignition on while changing chips.
Think my stock chip is pretty dead.

Thank's for help.

Come to think of it, I think I remember doing that once many moons ago and yes, I had to burn a new chip.
