Idle SA setting

So, My truck seems to idle the best with approx 30 deg of TOTAL timing, as displayed on my computer. The BLM/INT is rock solid at 128/128, so just for kicks set it to idle about 26 to see what would happen and the INT started to descend to about 120. Setting the SA for about 34, the INT climbed to about 134. No knock counts at all during any of this, except for startup/shutdown. Both changes increased roughness of idle. Setting the total timing to 22 made the truck BARELY run. When I set the base timing, I just set it to what made it the smoothest, not really going for a predetermined value, and it ended up being 11 deg BTDC. I guess you gtta give it what it wants... Does that (30 deg) sound like too much timing at idle to you guys?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Idle SA setting

i think fast355 just posted to consider hook up vac gauge or manually turn dist. and set for idle SA to give max vacuum. my engine is at 19 deg and 15 on gauge. i think same could be done looking at lowest MAP. i think i was as high as 23 and low as 16 for SA.
