2732A not reading in ecm
2732A not reading in ecm
I made a copy of my stock eprom chip to make sure my programer and everything was working correctly. Now neither the stock chip or the copy will work in the ecm. Keep getting a SES code flashing. But if you read the chip in the programer and save the .bin and open it in Tuner C.A.T. it shows all of the info there. I have been told a number of times that a read will not damage the chip. Then what happened?

Re: 2732A not reading in ecm
I was wondering if you have already installed the moates chip adapter. I will assume that you have. If you are reading the stock chip it must already be cut out of the stock plastic holder. If you do have the moates adapter installed, you must move the stock chip all the way to the front(adapter has larger socket than the stock chip). Of course I am just guessing on what stuff you are using for programming and sockets etc....

If you are still using the stock socket and holder make sure you didn't bend or crack a pin on the chip when putting it back in the black holder. I learned the hard way that its really easy to mangle a chip when taking it out of that holder. I found the best thing to do was to cut the ribs and end tabs off the top of the holder. This allows you to easily push the chip up and out through the bottom. You can then easily stick the replacement chip up through the bottom of the holder until the pins seat in the recesses, but when inserting it press on the top of the chip with your thumb so it doesn't pop out of the top of the holder.
On my 2732 based ECM, with the ECM oriented so that the chip opening is at the bottom, my pin 1 is located on the top right. This means the little "u" in the chip should be on the right side.
Note that the stock holders are also hard to get the chip fully inserted in, the plastic ribs on the sides often bow out and catch, push them in a little with a small screwdriver to get the chip to insert correctly.
I'd wager the problems is either wrong pin 1 location, slightly bent pin or chip not fully inserted.
Good luck-
