request review of my moates shopping list

I think I finally figured out the simplest way for me to get into this. Ive downloaded tunerpro and played with it enough to make me think I want to try altering my chip. Could I please get some feed back from people "in the know" on the following parts I plan to purchase.

$85 -Burn1 programmer (I see that it will work w/ tunerproRT, but will
it work w/ the regular tunerpro?)

$35 -G1 memory adapter (W/ this setup, it seem as though I
can leave my stock prom alone and not mess w/ the soldering and
unsodering. Im also assuming the "new" chip just pops into this?)

$10 -Hdr1 memcal header (Same reason as the G1 adapt. , I can still
read the stock bin w/out messing around w/ a sodering iron. Plus I
would be able to easily go back to "the was it was" since I dont
have to remove the chip)

$10 -two C2 chips 27SF512 (This confused me a little since it said
"drop in replacement for AT29C256". Moates discription also listed
other chip #'s but I cant find them #'s anywhere on my chip.
these are the #'s on the top of my prom:
014
045915
B0141AB
Im amost positve these are the chips I need but i wanted to
double check.)

$140 TOTAL

Does this look good or am I missing something?

thanks for your input, Jeff

Will also need an ALDL cable and a data logging program.

If your ECM is a '7165 or '7730 the list looks good.

After the ALDL cable the only thing I would add is a wide band o2. I'm not sure which one to suggest because I have a DIY setup but it will be replaced with one from Moates as soon as I get my engine back in the car.

ALDU1 + CABL1 combo. $80

I would also HIGHLY suggest the use of an Ostrich, you can tune in real time, and cuts the overall tuning time down by so much that the $175 investments is payed back in time saved. You can see what effects the changes you are making has as you change them, instead of shutting down the engine, reading the datalog, making a change, re-burning the EEPROM, installing, re-starting and going for a drive to datalog again.

Re: request review of my moates shopping list

Ive have looked at the emulation stuff and almost put the nvsram modual on my shopping list. However, Usung your time vs. money idea, It just happens to be that I have more of the time and alot less of the $. Also for the few small changes I pan on making , I think this basic list Should be able to get the job done.

Thats what I thought to, I was wrong. I will have an Ostrich when it comes time to start tuning. I look forward to having someone drive the car while I tune it going down the road. Don't get me wrong, the old stuff is still better nothing but it sure takes a lot of time to get it right.
