Wondering if anyone else has experienced this

Finally upon getting most of the BLMS in line and my timing tables done, I noticed that the car seemed to have a very lean idle (blm of 146), so i rose the ve in that table...and rose...and rose it. Now i have a Ve of 50 something in that and its better but i think i still saw it hover at 130. I know that that is ok but still...anyone else have such a high VE value at 40kpa, 400 rpm? Is there possibly another table i should be looking at instead of the VE one? Car seems to be ok though, runs good, idles nice.

Specs:

92 RS, open element, free tbi mods, full exhaust, afpr, stock injectors @ 20 psi (yea i know its high, i thought the car had a stock pump so i cranked it all the way up assuming it was only 15)

I was having some of the same troubles on mine and adjusting the base pulse on injectors ~VS~ Coolant temp I believe to get mine back in line. It really didn't make too much sense though. I raised that up then had to lower all the VE's across all the tables. I wonder if anyone else has any major input. The only major diff is I am using a $58 on a 7749

Re: Wondering if anyone else has experienced this

i figured it out. Here's what happened to me though. I thought the pump could support 20psi but raising the throttle to wide open dropped th pressure significantly. So i lowerd it back down to 13.5. Ran my 115 BPC tune (basically a tune worked around 15psi of fuel pressure) and switched the injector constant from 115 to 128 (because i am running 13.5 psi) but left the ve's alone and my blm's were damn near perfect with a minor tweak here and there and to top it off they were very consistent. I did notice at 20psi that the injectors spray patterned was f'd up pretty bad...it sprayed very very very wide hence my major problems with tuning the car from the get go. I have been trying to retune this car for the past 3 days and it was very inconsistent and barely responded to changes i made. I accompany this to the injectors being messed up because of the 20psi.

Re: Wondering if anyone else has experienced this

I am experiencing something similar. 19 lbs FP 80 lbs injs. BPC correct at 90. open loop coolant tables set to 14.1/1 at 800 rpms and 45 map. shows 16/1 on WB.

Now assuming no reversion at idle messing up WB readings assuming no vac leaks maybe the solution is VAFPR(for me or you).

Have you considered trying OL idle? That is what I did some time ago.

Re: Wondering if anyone else has experienced this

i had my afpr hooked up to vacuum, it messed up my readings. With so little mods i dont think its necessary for me to run one (espec since im still running stockers) but like i said, the car runs much better now, more responsive for sure. What kind of setup are you running?
