Tuning 165 MAF Issues
With the combination listed below my engine has been running, but not very well. Now I know its due to my combination being quite far from stock and I must tune my setup. However after many attempts I just havent been able to get it dialed it or even close. Thus I am seeking advice on what BIN file I should be using when I take the car to get tuned and are their any people located in PA that specialize or know how to tune 3rd gens with custom setups ?

Re: Tuning 165 MAF Issues
I am using APYP with excellent results. My combo is a little tamer than yours (mainly heads and 212/218 cam) so I think you should be able to get it right. I had some challenges getting it right. Mainly "hardware". I had a Holley adjustable regulator and it was leaking fuel into the manifold. Then it seemed to cause my O2 sensor to fail. Talk about chasing your tail! Anyway, during that time nothing seemed to respond and give me the changes I expected. So my suggestion is to check EVERYTHING. Not until I got pretty close did the little tweaks (like to the maf tables, battery vs injector pw etc) have any affect.
FYI my MAF meter has the screens and fins removed. I adjusted the scalars by 10% and some of them up from there. That's when I really started to get close. Before that, I couldn't dump enough fuel in to get the BLM's down.

Re: Tuning 165 MAF Issues
where in PA are you?
What seems to be your problems? cant get it to idle right? Driveability problems? Arap bin features very aggressive timing and i dont like it for that reason. Definately pull a few degrees out everywhere and start from there with teh ARAP
I'm gonna use my AUJL bin for my 89 auto 5.7L camaro. Gonna use it on my 383 HSR.

Re: Tuning 165 MAF Issues
Im located in Etters 17319, Halfway between Harrisburg and York. As for the issues im experiencing the cars just running horrible, when idling it dosent sound all that bad just can hear some pinging or a miss here and thier. When driving I get some hesitation and the power just isent their and seems to be loading up at lower rpms as well as horrible throttle response. Just dosent make sense to me that an ecm could make a car run this horrible but ive been over all the hardware several times and just cant find what would be wrong.

Re: Tuning 165 MAF Issues
pinging and such could be too much timing, so check your base timing as well as the timing in the chip
It should work ok on stock AUJL and other timing tables but the ARAP i think is too much timing.
play with your acceleration enrichment tables to gain back some throttle responsive if its hesitating. thats too much air and not enough fuel, or tip-in problems.
thats a start
raise idle to 800 rpms or so and play with MAF table 1 to bring air fuel in line
