PCV valve affect tune?
PCV valve affect tune?
It was noticed by my mechanic friend that I am puking some oil at the PCV seal at the PCV to valve cover. It was suggested that the rings may be in need of replacement. PCV is routed to my TBI unit. Is that your belief that excessive pressure in valve valley would be from the rings?
Now would a defective PCV valve do same? Stuck closed? If it is just the grommet/gasket that holds the PCV valve that is defective and allows a vac leak would that throw off tune?
Please explain.

Re: PCV valve affect tune?
Every TBI engine I've ever seen does that. The grommet is far from a perfect seal. I don't know why it does it. Obviously there is some crankcase pressure needed to push the oily film out but how much is too much I don't know. If it runs good and doesn't use much if any oil I wouldn't worry about it. I just keep it wiped off at each oil change.
Re: PCV valve affect tune?
I did some research. years back the crankcase pressure(due to blow by past the rings-normal all engines) was routed down to bottom on engine with a tube. laid on the roadways in center of lane? this was first emishions devise back in 1960 or so. it was decided one could improve by routing to intake and burn. one way valve was used as no venting needed under high vac(idle) as no pressure. valve closes under vac. valve opens at cruise(lower vac). so the air and oil droplets coming into intake vary pased upon crankcase pressure. One would think that variable would affect BLM. But the changes will be seen at NB02 and corrected on BLM. my take.
