Spark Advance Cold Disable

So I found Z69's posts on this...

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...+spark+advance

Call me thickheaded, but I'm no hexidecimal expert. I couldn't for the life of me decipher his notes on the hex info. I'm sure he distilled it down to as basic an explanation as possible, but I'm just not gettin' it. Can someone please point me to the exact hex location and what to do when I get there so I can disable the cold spark advance?

I zeroed out my base coolant advance correction as well as the bias in the constants table. But it's still going to the 100 kPa spark values (which I confirmed when I put in 25° at 800 rpm and 100 kPa and then saw that value on my scanner).

Thanks.

Re: Spark Advance Cold Disable

Routine does not use closed throttle SA Table until until CTS > L8031
or
until current filtered CTS - S/U CTS is > S/U CTS
and
filtered CTS - S/U CTS is > L8032.

There's two possibilities to change the operation.
L8032 appears to not be used beecause the stock setting is "FF" makes the differential temperature of current CTS minus Startup CTS unobtainable.
L8031 is set $71, 44.5 Deg C (113F)

Looks like lowering the value at L8031 will lower the cold SA disable threshold.

Re: Spark Advance Cold Disable

This is probably a really dumb question...

But how do I get to L8031? I downloaded Tunerpro and activated the hex editor but can't find this address...

Re: Spark Advance Cold Disable

The $8D mask starts at address 8000, so this would be "031" in the listing.
No need to do it in hex editor.
It should be one of the items defined in the listing.

Re: Spark Advance Cold Disable

So on mine, position 031 has 71 in it. From the posts on the searches I was reading, it seemed like the factory value was supposed to be 44?
