Off idle stumble you say??

So you say you have an off idle stumble?

Before you assume your AE needs tweaking, check to make sure your closed throttle SA matches the SA at the MAP you're idling at!

Case in point, I was doing some modifications to my calibration and after a few iterations I started noticing an off idle stumble. So, I started playing around with the AE for another few iterations and couldn't get rid of the stumble. So of course I did some more iterations and still couldn't get rid of it! It finally occurred to me that I adjusted the SA in the main table without adjusting the closed throttle SA. Ended up with a difference of 4 deg. So I went back to the calibration before I started messing with the AE, correct the SA advance descrepancy and bingo, stumble gone. Apparently that 4° was enough to cause a stumble on the off-idle transition.

So there's my tip of the day.
