870 swap to sd 730 Questions

First off i've been searching through the forums about this, and found this http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/, and what i wondering was, if i make the adapter harness for the 730 computer will the harness plug into my 85' 870 harness, if not what will i have to do? Also i was thinking of buying the NVSRAM Module Assembly from moates. My question on that is that i will not have to a aujp memcal sense the bin will already stored on the drive? Thanks for any help

1) Splice the '730 connectors to the '870 harness
2) If you have a corvette, you need to make a few splice changes. Mike had a camaro.
3) Buy an ostrich

Ostrich can be used with many bins, many ecms.. NVSRAM only the '730 with $8D..

Neat geeky idea. Not very economical.

you shouldn't have to splice too many wires, you can most likely pull pins and swap most of them. no need to splice the whole set of wires, unless you really want to. the 870 and 730 use the same connector pins I believe.

you should use a memcal, or you will have no knock control, and possibly some issues with limp home (not super critical) and hardware settings.

either ostrich or nvmem, either one will work. ostrich is more expensive if you are ever only going to use this ecm, compared to the nvmem, but is definitely more versatile. nvmem is limited right now to only a couple of calibrations and limited support (not in tunerpro yet)

'870 uses same pins? I thought they used the hard board connectors.

I have not seen one in years.

I'm pretty certain the one sitting on the shelf has the regular pins on it. the carby ecm's definitely are board edge, as were the crossfire ecms. I think the '870 might have been the first connector ecm, as a matter of fact (well, ok, maybe the '747 too)

Yeah I think I'm thinking of the crossfire stuff.
