LT1cam prom...
Last week, i bought all things to burn my own chips. I am a beginner with these things. But I´m learning all the time in this board and other boards.
Please help me to learn ! I am very interested !!!
My program is Tuner RT from Tunercat.
My car is an 88´TransAM TBI. The engine is a LO3.
The settings are:
- Ultimate TBI-Mods
- Ported 081 heads
- Edelbrock 3704 intake manifold ( 46mm bored )
- Edelbrock valvesprings
- Edelbrock timing-chain
- headers
- open exhaust with flowmaster 80 muffler
Next month, i´ll fit in:
- B&M torque converter ( 2100 stall speed )
- TH700R4 Master Rebuild Kit ( Stage 4 )
- Shift Kit
- LT1-Cam ( 95´Camaro )
Which settings should i change in the stock Bin-File ?
Can you help me ???

Well I'm new to tuning my self but just wanted to make a suggestion. You might want to think about something along the lines of a wideband 02 sensor and datalogin equipment. It'll help you a lot. I'm still trying to figure out what type to get with my EBL.

Jan-
The main changes you will need to make are to your VE tables. Take a close look at them now in TunerCat to get familiar with yoru starting point.
I'd also recommend taking a look at the program TunerPro RT (search on that name and you'll hit it). Its similar to TunerCat but I find it to be more flexible.
TunerPro RT also does a nice job of real time logging, which is important for making tweaks to your VE (maybe TunerCat does this now, but not to my knowledge).
Take a look on the various threads here on doing tuning after a cam change (or other change that will required a modified VE table).
What you want to do is start with no load on the engine first, and while logging take the engine up to 2500 RPM or so and then study the log of your 02 sensor values. Based on those values make adjustments to your VE tables, burn a new chip and do the test over again. Once you have the no load table in good shape, now do the same thing for very light load on the engine (slow driving, light throttle), log values, make adjustments to the VE tables and re-burn. Keep this up putting more and more load on the engine.
As mentioned above a wide band O2 sensor makes it easier to tune full throttle, which will be in PE open loop mode, but its also possible by using the "sneak up" method described above to get the full throttle response pretty close also.
Once you have your VE tables in good shape you can try tweaking your spark advance tables, but keep in mind if you end up making significant changes to them it will require a re-tweak of the VE tables.
Good luck, and thanks for buying GM products (these days we need all the help we can get).

Re: LT1cam prom...
I would run datalogs of cuurent setup now. Then run the datalog after the cam install. Post the results for others to see and comment. I have datalogs before and after on my old laptop on cam change. I would have to check when I bought the cam in my receipts to see before and after "corrections" in my logs. Probably would see trend.

Will help you get an idea.
Makes me wonder if VE tables would end up close to EBL calculated ones?
