Removing Code 42 from ECM

I am researching and developing a stand alone TBI conversion for my AMC engines. I have an AMC 360 sitting on the floor in the garage. It's hooked up to a GM TBI system. I'm using a 7747 ECM with a 2732A chip (24 prong). I have eliminated the electronic spark control to keep this kit simple (so I thought). In doing so, I used the negative side of the coil to fire the injectors. ( FYI..It required making a tach filter to reduce the high frequency spikes resulting in a fried ecm.)

Anyhow, I am just one step away from having a working prototype. I just need to reprogram the chip to not read code 42 "electronic spark timing open circuit"

I understand that there are a lot if options out there. I want to stay away from the G2 Chip adaptor because I don't want to have to solder the circuit board.

What is the cheapest way to accomplish this?

Re: Removing Code 42 from ECM

One option to consider is a PROM Programmer from:

http://www.progshop.com/shop/program...rogrammer.html

This programmer supports the 2732 chip used in the 1227747 ECM.

If you need 2732 chips to program, try Jameco:

In my previous post I posted the WRONG link for the programmer.

Here is the correct link I should have posted:

Re: Removing Code 42 from ECM

cant you just uncheck the flag for ESC so as to disable the ability to set the CE light?

I agree, unchecking the Err 42 in the ECM switch table will work. I would program a new PROM chip with the Err 42 unchecked. I might also make changes in the ECM constants table.
