Is it possible?
I wanted to run a stand alone ECU(commander 950) but i want to keep the check engine light functional(flash at accessory, off when running). Could I pretty much delete or turn off all the self diagnostics to get this affect? I dont want to get the software and hardware to burn a prom if its not atleast plausable.

Hmmm, you want to use the original ECU to make the light turn on for 2 seconds when key on, and off when run?
I can imagine a small timer circuit to do it, to fool a smog tech. Just turn the bulb on for 2 seconds when key on and then go off until reset.
Our company's ECU can do it, but it's not for sale in the US, yet... It's EOBD, too, so pretty much the same as OBD2, give or take a few small fault detection details. But it's not going to be ready for distributor v8 for quite a while if ever.
