I would remove timing at that point where KC occurs and maybe the surrounding SA cells and see if it reduces or disappears. If it reduces/disappears that means timing or octane related. If no change then it may be mechanical.
I had KC when I began tuning 2800-3000 rpms under load with 93 octane. Pulled 2 deg SA and it went away. Dropped to 89 octane and it did not reappear.
