Hey all, been a while since I posted. I have been away TDY for the military.

Here is the deal. I have a buddy here who has a jeep with the tbi howell kit on it. The bin in it now is WAYYYY rich.

So I take a space ECM (7747), ad the G@ adapter, and copy his bin from the chip. I pull some fuel, use my USB autoprom and burn the new bin. Put it in, nothing. I tried 3 more chips. The addressing is right, tried stacked and unstacked. I got it to work once on the first burn of the third chip. Then figured ok, I had 2 bad chips. So I erased it and burned the bin I wanted to use and nothig again.

I am using TPrt for the editing, and winaldl for the datalogging, along with my snap-on MT2500.

SO, which do you guys think it is, 3 bad chips? or did my APU1 take a crap by itself after not using for a year?

Any input or personnel stories appreciated. I'll be giving Craig a call later to see what he thinks.

 

Don't use the adaptor, read and program the EPROM directly.

I am reading directly off of the chip. The chip addressing is exactly as it is posted on craigs site for the burn. I have been doing this for a few years, just never ran into the problems I am running into now. I am afraid to try burning chips for my turbo buick or the chevy for fear those chips may get messed up too. I sent Craig Moates an email, I'll be giving him a call tomorrow. I may buy a few new chips and/or send the APU back to him to get looked at.

Can you post chip part numbers, made by, etc??? Just a thought - autoprom may not be able to program larger chips..

Oups - I am bad, but got to ask basic Q's first.
Do you have any EPROM (or FLASH) that works in your ECM.
If all chips do not work check for a bad solder joint between G2 and ECM PCB.

I did that too. I pulled out the ECM and checked the solder joints between the the adapters. There was a broken solder joint ON the G2 adapter, but I fixed that and it still didn't work. So, I think the chips may be bad. I'll be ordering a few of them from Craig and trying out again in a week or two. I'll keep everyone informed. But if you's guys have any other ideas, I am all ears.
