Do PCM's use a bigger PROM than ECM's??
I was reading in Traxions' Introduction to Prom Burning: "EXAMPLE: 1990-1992 TPI F-Bodies (305 and 350) require a '27C256' EPROM."
I have a 16168625 PCM in my 93 5.7 TBI 1/2 ton truck, and the 88 5.7 TPI Camaro has a 1227165 ECM. I'd say the PCM PROM has to be larger due to it managing the transmission too.
Am I correct??
Is there a thread on the different sizes of PROMS, and how they are used in different applications??

yeah, codes are different sizes, like i'm pretty sure the older maf code is 16k the map code is 32k. the boost code 58 is 16k, which they expanded to 32k for code 59. the prom size has to be big enough for the code, but you can use a large prom and either start it at the right address and only use what is needed or double it.
i think the $0 code is 64k maybe?

The TBI code that runs E tranmissions is 64K. This requires a 27C512 or similar (27SF512) EPROM, to fit the code. Larger EPROMs can be used, but require adaptors, the larger EPROMs can allow for bin switching though.
