Datalog/Data Acquisition?

Datalog/Data Acquisition?
Newb here... TunerPro v5, Moates APU, 1227730 ecm
I can burn chips, emulate just fine. When it comes do DA though, I cant seem to figure out what the problem is. Both switches are inboard on the APU, autoprom is selected in the preferences tab. With the key on I get "connecting" , nothing further. Datalog files are blank. If I open the autoprom data interface window I can see the three channels boucing up and down(no idea what it means but figured i would mention it) I am guessing I am missing something simple, I just need a bit of help. The harness is custom and only has four wires tapped into the diag port,not sure if the APU uses all 5 for D/A?
