question about knock sensor and module

hey guys,

Is it any benefit to run an lt1/lt4 knock sensor??
also, the lt4 knock sensor module helps reduce false knock on lt1's, but will it work on l98's (1991)??? I believe I'm getting a bunch of false knock at part throttle, car runs bad 1/2-3/4 throttle between 2500rpm and 3700rpm. light throttle and WOT works good. thanks guys.

Re: question about knock sensor and module

I dont think it is possible to do away with false knock on a modified engine. Seems OEM can do so but I am sure they struggle with it as well. I saw a week ago in summit some aftermarket K sensors and alarms. Maybe use of AM sensor w/ alarm hooked to ECU may be better. I was told B body 4.3L is less sensitive. ????

Re: question about knock sensor and module

well, as long as that sensor is around 3.9k ohms it might work, but don't know. I may have to re burn computer chip again and remove some of it that way, or all together or something, what's weird is that it is only part throttle during certain rpms

What does the data log show for knock counts and spark retard?

Re: question about knock sensor and module

Why not remove say 3-4 deg at that area of KC and see if it reappers? If does not reappear one can assume timing related? Or near my office they sell race gas I think 103 octane. One could run down tank and then add a few gallons and see it it reappears.

Re: question about knock sensor and module

that would be something easy to try....although I'm only 10:1, so it shouldn't need race gas. i need to get out and get a good data log going and review, but been raining here.

Re: question about knock sensor and module

if KS does not trigger and you are runnin race gas that tells you mechanical noise. then you may chose to disable KS in .bin
