I need advice.

I have an 89' K2500 pickup that I recently purchased an engine for. The engine came from a 93' tahoe. I purchased it with the engine harness off the 93 as my old harness on the 89 was turn into a mess by the previous owner. I did some research today and found the new harness uses a different computer with a red and blue plug that works with a computer like the 16196395. My old setup is for the 7747. So I have alot of question and no wireing diagrams yet for the 93 vs. 89 setup. so i will just list them off.

Is the driver side of the harness compatible with the 89 system it would potentially plug into? ( i realize the abs computer plug is different but mine is disconnected anyway. If not what changes would i need to make?

If I purchased the newer computer would the remaining portionof the harness work with the 89 system.

Or would it be better to re wire the plug socket to be withe the 7747 again?

or last should i total rewire the inside too match the newer engine harness for a potential improvement in design?

At the moment i am running a bit blind till i can get the diagram books I ordered.

All ideas and thoughts are appreciated. and btw its a 350 engine with a sm465 manual trany.

thanks for your help in advance, chris.

Re: I need advice.

For wiring question such as these you are better off posting at a truck site. Both the Full Size Chevy (FSC) and the North American truck club sites are good sites dedicated to trucks.
