winaldl datalogging question
I am trying to do some datalogging using winaldl and am not getting much information from it. I built the cable as per the instructions on the tbi forum. I've attached my datalog. Could this be because the cable isn't built correctly or something?

Re: winaldl datalogging question
I was thinking about it this weekend, and since I am only getting data on the following columns: MW2, PROMIDA and 0's on everthing else, could it be that my ECU is bad? About 18 months ago my car started running like crap, it would stall out and not restart randomly, which is why I decided to pull the motor and rebuild.
Would a bad ECU have these symptoms?

what color do you see in the white box next to the configuration button in the center of the screen? If its green and you are getting data in all of the columns then I would think everything is fine if its red and flashes irradically or you dont get data in all of the raw data columns then there is probably a problem with your cable. Every bad ecm that I have seen makes the check engine light flicker.
I have not messed with this stuff as much as most of the guys on here so hopefully someone else has some info. Good news is if the ECM is bad they are usually really cheap and plentiful at the junk yard. I always liked having a few extras laying around.

Actually the check engine light doesn't come on right away only if I take it around the block I think.
Turns out the problem I was having with not getting data in all columns was due to the usb to serial port convert I had. I tried an older laptop we had sitting around at work that actually has an onboard serial port and it worked fine.
Now I just have to figure out what all the data means and how to get started burning my own chips.
