Re: OBD 1 scanning software.

I downloaded tuner pro and it seem like it does a little more than just read codes on OBD 1 cars. I was looking for something a little less complex. Im not really into the custom chip tuning.

Re: OBD 1 scanning software.

www.moates.net for the cable and for the chips and burner and such when you decide to start your own tuning.

www.tunerpro.net for the software. It works great for datalogging, then will work great when you decide to start your own tuning.

it's only as complex as you want it to be, you can easily ignore most of the stuff if you're just looking to scan for error codes.

Re: OBD 1 scanning software.

I've got some written in vb.net because winaldl has been really consistant at blue screening windows 7. haven't done any graphics yet mainly because I don't know how. Anyone want to take it over? It also has the neat feature of reading the .bin from $8D through the ALDL.

Re: OBD 1 scanning software.

so will Win ALDL work or not being a 160baud? I like it because it has a dash and is easy to navigate.

Re: OBD 1 scanning software.

What is it you're looking to do?

If you simply want to access stored codes a paper clip will help you there. If you want to see more detailed data, then tunerpro would likely be what you will want. V5 has customizable dashboards as well.

Re: OBD 1 scanning software.

Tunerpro v5 for your software.
ALDL cable either from moates.net or aldlcables.com.
Be sure to get a USB cable, not a serial port cable.

http://www.tunerpro.net/downloadApp.htm

you'll need the RT version.

you'll have the full features of the software, however, without registering it, there is a 10 second nag screen every time you launch the program.

Re: OBD 1 scanning software.

You will need to get an ALDL to USB converter also. The cable will connect to your computer through the internet port but tunerpro wont be able to connect unless you purchase an ALDL to USB converter; The ALDL cable will plug into converter and a USB cable will plug into the converter. Its all on the Moates Web site.

Re: OBD 1 scanning software.

90L98$8d was referring to the moates cable, which is a two piece unit, one side has the ALDL interface and ends with a RJ45 connector, the other is a converter to make the GM 8192 baud signal into a USB signal by way of a serial-USB converter.

that's basically a moates specific arrangement though, i believe it's done that way due to being able to interchange the 12 and 16 pin ALDL connectors easier.

Re: OBD 1 scanning software.

Look at Tunercat as well. My impression day one of tuning it was the easiest to use to modify my .bin. It lets you see the basics and then as you progress you can ask for other features at no xtra cost. I used winALDL to datalog. winALDL is a simple and user friendly as you can get.

I bought my cable from customefis $40
