is this all I need to get started?
I have a 90 RS, its a 305 with TBI. I just recently did an lt1 cam swap and am looking to start burning chips for my car and was looking on Moates site and just wanted to verify that I am purchasing the correct things.
G2 memory adapter 0.60 spacing
28 pin ZIF
SST 27SF512 chip (a couple of them)
I already have a chipmax programmer at my disposal. I also already built a cable and have started datalogging.
Thanks

Some of the ECM's that use a G2 need the Moates signal booster to burn or emulate.
ZIF sockets make chip changing easier, moot if you leave an emulator on board, not required.
2 chips! ??? Try a gross to start. I would go about it with a Burn 2.
This is why folks emulate.
Or better yet,
My solution was the EBL Flash system.

If tuning a TBI, I vote for the EBL flash also. Look here, www.dynamicefi.com

Why do I need a gross of chips? The chips are erasable, so I tune on one and have the other as my last best burn. Also, I would love to get the EBL, but don't have the extra $250 buck that it would cost over just getting the supplies that I am looking at for burning my own chips.

Things happen. As discussed in another thread, with a few pins getting bent (from handling, occassional short falls out of hands, etc) you may start to get erratic results from the chips.
I don't know about a gross, but if the price is reasonable, I'd say a total of 4 would keep you out of trouble.
You can get by with two, as long as nothing happens to either one. You need one known good chip in the vehicle when testing (IMO) in case something is so wrong with the latest burn that a known-good chip swap makes getting back to the house possible.
That way, if something DOES go wrong with a chip (or both) you don't have to pay for shipping again, or wait on them to arrive.
The pins on these things are far softer than I expected them to be. With no effort at all you can bend multiple of them far out of place.
