No communication between chip and ECM?

Hi there, I've been lurking around TGO for quite some time now, I have searched alot but can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for.
I just purchased a burn2 and the rest of the Moates hardware to get started tuning my TBI 305. I installed the G2 adapter while looking Craig's instructions online. I went to put my stock chip in the adapter and I get the flashing SES light, and the car drives like it's in "limp home" mode, high idle, lots of fuel showing on my wideband o2 etc...
I may have had the chip in backwards for a few minutes while I drove the car around the block also.
The other problem I'm having is getting a new chip (512) with a new bin to verify with the buffer. I'm using tunerpro for the tuning, the $4D XDF for my 8063 ECM.
So in short, i'm having trouble connecting to the ECM and burning chips, does anyone have any diagnostic tips?

Not sure if thats the same problem I'm having with another car, but the bin burn and verification thing should work as long as you have all the addresses set right in tunerpro and the burn1/burn2 drivers installed. I assume you have this done because you connected with the hardware.

Select the chip you are burning to and it should program. Hit verify with buffer and it should verify. Chip has a notch on it that is suppose to face the handle with bottom of chip aligned with base of the burner slot.

Same thing with the ecm adapter. Notch forward towards handle. make sure the chip is in right and try again. Sometimes you put the chip in right and the motor doesnt run right. Just take out the chip and then put it back in to try again. Its happened on my car where I do a burn, plug the chip in and the car wont run right. I shut down and reinstall the chip and it works. No idea why that happens

But keep trying to burn the chip and get it to verify with buffer. Once that works you can be abit more confident the chip is correct and should run on the car.

Re: No communication between chip and ECM?

just a thought since it happened to me but im sure it doesn't happen very often... i ordered the same chips from moates (two at the same time) one chip took the programming just fine the other was never able to verify with buffer. just happened to be a bad chip. just had to order another one.

just a thought that may be what happened here

also if you installed the g2 adapter in the ecm your stock chip won't read in that adapter. it will just revert to limp mode. you have to use the 27sf512 chips from now on. the only thing you can do now with the old chip is put it in the burn2 and read it (make sure the stock chip name is selected at the top left box) and save that bin file as "original bin" or something that you want to name it and then select the 512 chip setting in that same box and then load "original bin" file to the buffer and program the chip. then verify it.

basically what RocZ said...

Ended up being 2 problems, bad chips (4!) and a poor soilder job with chip not reading. re-did that and burnt my first good chip.
