Data Log Help

Hey Guys,
Looking for some help with my TunerproRT data log things don't seem right at all, my speed says I hit 143mph lol, and my timing seems off among other things. If anyone can take a look and see what is happening I would appreciate it. It was taken for a short drive when I was recording. 1991 Camaro 5.7L all stock with no engine codes but runs sluggish when warm and just barely passes HC emissions.

Thanks
-Jesse

Re: Data Log Help

Ok, I can't tell what is going on in your log, but it appears to drop bits occasionally. Are you using a prebuilt cable or a homemade one? Your o2 swings look good and your rich/lean counter increments, so that seems to be working, does your car seem to surge? I notice your BLM's going way lean, then for a short time back to slightly rich, then back way lean again. It could just be learning. Can you try runing WINALDL to see if it drops data the same way. What version of TPRT are you using and which XDF and ADS/ADX

Re: Data Log Help

Thanks for the reply so quickly. Okay I was using "Super 8dm2.ecu with "1227730 8D.ads" with TPRT v. 4.14.381.0 if that helps. The cable is a usb cable from http://www.aldlcable.com. I can't datalog with WINALDL I live in Canada and the car is put away for the winter. Is it normal for my mph to be that high? I didn't hit those speeds or even close to them (143mph??). Also does the timing seem correct I didn't think it should be that high? I know I'm running lean but the car isn't noticeably surging.

Here's what the car seems to be doing when setting minimum air I can't get a stable rpm +/- 50rpm either way, the timing was set at factory 6*BTDC with the tanned wire disconnected, runs fine when cold but as soon as it's warmed up I can literally floor it from a stop and not even get tire squeal I'm at a loss which is why I posted my Tunerpro Data to see if it shows why this would be happening. Any other thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Data Log Help

Actually except when you have a data glitch, your timing looks fine. Of course, I only glanced at it, but it looks fairly normal. I would expect that pump shot is what will need to be worked on once you get the lean condition solved. It's called PE IIRC. It is extra fuel that gets added when you have a quick change in accelerator pedal (TPS). You need to read the stickies on tuning, and every other tuning thread you can dig up. Good Luck

The lean condition can make the rpm unstable as you are experiencing. Some work on the idle areas of the VE tables should correct that.

The 128 & 143 MPH are just random packet errors. They only appear in a single read of the data. Its not consistently reading like that from the logs. No biggie, maybe add a bit more delay to the connection macro to reduce the number of bad packets when logging.
Try to use the data more as an average reading that taking a single reading as an indication to change something. If the reading is consistent on several logs then it is a good indication to take action.

Re: Data Log Help

Thanks for all the help. Can't wait for summer to start data logging and tuning some more. I have a feeling that the lean condition might be from me adjusting the minimum air to pass emissions and lean it out to lower HC's so I'll fix that if thats all that seems to be wrong. Thanks again!!!
