VE Master opinions? Helpful suggestions?
Hey guys,
I have a guy helping me learn tuning, and we did a bin using my first DL, and utilized VE master to save some time.
I was wondering if any of you have ever used it, and if you have any concerns or opinions on it.
The engine has more power, but , at the same time, the idle is still a little choppy, both in drive, and park, and it smells rich all around. It also has a funny tendency, before kicking down to warm idle, where it jumps up about 400 rpm`s, then back down 750rpm.
Is this a normal thing to expect?
Thanks,
Jim

I like it to get the numbers close.
The best thing I have found is NOT to use it as a single correction. Usually there is a bit of over correction that occurs.
By that I mean take several long datalogs, correct a starting bin each time but do not drive the new bin yet.
Take the corrected table values from each "mastered" bin and paste them to a spreadsheet.
Average at least 3 sets of corrections and then paste that back to your running bin and then repeat.
A couple of iterations of that puts me about as close as I can get without changing some other major item that causes me to repeat the process.
The very low and very high areas on the tables will still need to be manually tweaked a bit due to low cell counts but all around driving fueling will be good.
Doing it this way can also let you remove corrections that are indicated while you were in PE mode and ignores effects of AE that can skew things with short logs and immediate correction.
I have an example spreadsheet somewhere for $8D. Shoot me an email if you think it would help you.

Ps,
After all that being said, TunerPro 5 can be setup to creat the same type of histogram data that can be put into the spreadsheet as well.
