Quad Drivers - Where to acquire
specifically, the P4 style... need to add one to a 1228707.
are these going to be a salvage only part or are they able to be bought or a compatible replacement?
the surface mount diodes that need to be installed as well, is there anything special about them that would prevent me from using some from a P66 unit i tore apart?

Re: Quad Drivers - Where to acquire
The ones I've seen are made by Delco and by someone else. The manufacturer code on the 'someone else' parts is 980. Which I don't know who that is. I had a list of them here someplace, but do you think I can find it.
I would just pull one from a scrap ECM. Same for the diodes.

Re: Quad Drivers - Where to acquire
appreciate the response....
i did a search for quad drivers before, but only came up with the part number/link for the ones used in the C3 models... came up with a p/n for the P4, but can't find them being sold anywhere that isn't in quantities of 100+.
ECMs are cheap anyways, i'm sure ebay will suffice.

Re: Quad Drivers - Where to acquire
hmm... didn't know about a cap needing to be added... i guess that will need to be pulled as well, along with marking and recording how everything is positioned on the donor ECM, don't want to solder a diode in reverse.
Re: Quad Drivers - Where to acquire
I have noticed that there are different diodes within the quad drivers output circuits.
The most prevalent are KN223s and KM6336 diodes. Do you know what the outside GM part numbers are for those particular ones, as I also want to add a quad driver to some 1227749 ECMs.
Also, the GM PN 16045980 (and 16042368) quad driver part number seems to be the TI part number TPIC2404KN, but nobody seems to stock them. You have any or can recommend a source (don't want to eat into your stock unless you are flush).
Thanks,
Hank

Re: Quad Drivers - Where to acquire
I don't have any of the P4 quad drivers. As for the diodes, if these are the ones to protect the q-dvr outputs just use a TVS such as I listed above.
Makes me wonder what the newer PCMs are using for drivers.

RBob...
The newer PCMs and ECMs are using SOIC type parts. I think more energy optimization of devices has taken place, and these parts now seem to be the norm.
There are some PCM/ECMs where these ICs are mounted in such a way as to lay an aluminum heat sink to the top of them when the case is crimped on (eg: Siemens VDO P07 PCM for the Cadillac FWD Northstar from 2002-2006), but most simply sit at the edge of the boards.
I guess the through-holes are now becoming archealogical finds......
