Super Nob questions
Super *** questions
I have a "94 Chevy silverado it has a 305 that has over 220000 miles on it and I am starting to have some internal issues and ALOT of oil leaks lol. So I am in the process of getting ready to swap over to a 350 TBI motor. The motor hasn't been built yet because I want to make sure I can get this tuning down or close. My thoughts are why not play on a motor I am going to pull very soon any way right!
Well I finally got my burn 2, a few chips, and GP adapter ordered tonight. So I figured I would get started and play around a bit with the tune on the 305/ ABDUL/BHMD.bin (BDUL that has apparently been updated to BHMD.bin??) I get the bin loaded and 0D.xdf but I also noticed I have another, 0D_tpv4_v200.xdf. The 0D.xdf file has allot less options than the 0D_tpv4_v200.xdf (kinda intimidated by it ha ha). This will obviously be my first tune but I don't know were to really start at. " Were is the cook book"? While at my local junkyard scouting for motors today I came across a truck that was a '94 and had the 4L60-E tranny and gears that were the same. I was on cloud 9 till I opened the hood and there was no engine
so I snatched the chip out of the computer. I used BCC lookup when I got home to confirm that it was all the same but instead of a 305 should be 350. Jackpot!!!! (BCC comparison's at end of post) I was right on the money and wish I had been there sooner to get that motor lol. Now that everyone is caught up lol on to the questions.
P.S.
I am building a stock 350 with exception of a Edelbrock 3702 Performer Plus cam kit and there TBI intake.
1. Will the chip I got from the junkyard work with my computer that is in my truck? Or do I need to go see if I can get the computer I pulled it from?
2. Other than knock sensor?
3. Am I using the correct files for data logging?
4. Is there a definitions file for tunning? IE You change this value to do this and so on.
5. I have found a 350 vortec short block in the junkyard, Would that be better to use than a TBI short block?
6. I know TBI heads are crappy flowing but what is the best TBI 350 heads to look for?
7. Would porting, polishing, and gasket matching TBI heads be worth it?
8. What are the main areas to tune for that cam?
Thats all I can think of at the moment. I am sure Ill have more lol.
Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated at this point I am kinda lost. I have tried posting on fullsizechevy but don't seem to get much help. I'm a camaro lover at heart I have had 4. Please help lead me in the right direction guys & galls.
Below is what I have and what I got from the junkyard. Will it work with out any problems by just swapping the whole blue chip in to the ECM that is in the truck for the 305?
