Help: trouble burning ABWT on 27sf512. Addressing issues, I believe.
I am having difficulty burning a chip for an 87 TPI 350 and was hoping for some suggestions.
I followed the procedure that worked for me previously, as seen here (towards bottom):
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...cant-seem.html
When plugging in the chip, key in the on position yields a solid SES light.
Bin is good, as I loaded it onto an Ostrich and ran it in the car. The check engine light flashed as it should upon placing key in on position. I tried various addressing settings, including what is suggested by moates from this page:
http://support.moates.net/2010/04/05...using-offsets/
For a 16kb file on a 27SF512, it specifies
Buffer Start: 00000
Buffer End: 03FFF (which I don't see where to set in Winpp2)
Device Start: 0C000
Device End: 0FFFF
Could someone please verify the correct address locations for what I am trying to achieve? Is there something I'm missing?
Background on burning:
27SF512 chip, ABWT_32.bin from Moates file page, WinPP2, Pocket Programmer 2.
Background on car: 1987 T/A. Originally an LB9 car, had a 91 L98 swapped in, original '87 MAF tpi retained, '90 corvette L98 injectors.

Those really should be the correct settings. Double check the orientation of the chip if you have any doubts.

Orientation of the chip was correct, I am positive of it. Is there a specific time in the sequence of erasing, inputting values, and burning the chip that this value must be entered? I will post up the process I follow below:
Ensure that you have the latest software version from http://xtronics.com/memory/updates.html
Check the chip type is set to 27SF512
Parallel port (non-USB) Pocket Programmer only:
Click on ‘Vpp 12V’
Press ‘T’
Click on ‘Port Delay’ and enter 120
Click on ‘Quit Test’
Use ‘Erase device’. This must be done every time the 27SF512 is programmed.
Click on ‘Buffer Start’ and enter 8000
Use ‘Load Buffer’ to load the ROM image.
Click on ‘Buffer Start’ and enter 0
Use ‘Program Device’ to program the EEPROM.
Use ‘Verify Device’ to verify the EEPROM.
Seeing that one must input 8000 in buffer start, load the buffer, then change buffer start back to 0, it wouldn't suprise me if it was somehow sequence specific. Craig, when you burn a 16kb program on one of your SF512's, do you have a different sequence you follow?
Thanks for your help.

No, those settings are incorrect.
For the 16k bin you're wanting to work with, you should do the following:
1) Connect and power up PP2 with no chip.
2) Open software, select 27SF512 chip.
3) Insert chip.
4) Select buffer start = 00000 , device start = 0C000, device end = 0FFFF.
5) Load buffer with your 16,384 byte file.
6) Check that the settings persisted.
7) Select erase device, make sure it completes successfully.
8) Program device, it should automatically verify.
Dat's it.

Thank you for your help, Craig.
I had to do this process a couple of times before it worked. WinPP2 sure is crappy and non user friendly... I guess I can't really complain for a free software.
