what do i need to get started??????

hi guys i am new to chipping and tuning any fuel injected motor... with that being said i never had and efi v8s yet and want to learn how to tune them and how to burn chips i know for the most part how the system works but would like to know more and there is only one shop in my area who can tune but hes not the greatest guy as hes just lazy in what he tunes lol........ and besides i picked up my guinea pig 86 iroc-z lb9 tpi and have a spare 89 lb9 that came out of my big block play toy :P

so to start off what do i need to be able to burn chips and tune my car as what you guys have used b4 and like and what are my options....

+1

Just make sure you get the right adapters and such for the ECM that you have.

There are also many posts just like this one, that can give you some insight.

Re: what do i need to get started??????

yeah i have been checking out craigmoates stuff and looks great just was not sure what most ppl are using as if i have troubles id have more suport...
and i noticed that moates have a chip adapter for our ecm and was wondering if thats is all that i needed to put a chip in my ecm cause i dont really know what are the options for these cars i have played with hondas a little just enough to get started as i was helping a friend getting his tuned and we had to solder in a socket to hold and read the chip.. dont really know how the third gen camaros are for that matter?????

http://www.moates.net/g1-memory-adap....html?cPath=64

and in our cars car we use the realtime emulator called the ostrich?? if so i have seen this product b4

http://www.moates.net/ostrich-20-the....html?cPath=95

and with all that i would need a chip burner as well like this one that can read memcal chips if i am correct lol

http://www.moates.net/burn2-chip-pro....html?cPath=94

and for dataloging cable would be ok ?

http://www.moates.net/aldu1-and-cabl....html?cPath=64

as you mentionned you use tuner pro for the software...has anyone tried using crome on our cars???? i dont think there compatible but worth a shot the guy in my area only uses crome that why i asked so if all else failed that would be an option lol

No, Crome will not work with the Delco ECMs.

Tuner Pro is a popular program used by many around here.
