APU1 burn problem

I have a problem with my autoprom and I have had it for the last two years. During that time I changed the car to a different computer system and gave up on my autoprom. I now need to use it again and need to figure out my problem, so any help would be awsome. basically I can do everything but burn chips. My current problem is that I can read a stock TPI chip save the file and then modify. I will then burn the new file to a 27sf512 chip. If I try to read the file that I just burned I get all kinds of error problems. i have both tunercats and tuner pro. In tunercats the stock chip will always read and open (87 32B TPI). I can then look around and make changes no problem. When I burn the chip everything works fine and says that it was successful. If I then read the same chip that I just burned without doing anything I will get this error message (The ECM deffinition file in use is not compatible with this source code). I don't understand because its the same 32B source code that I just created the bin with. When opening the file it will tell me any one of three different ecm files is need non of them being anything close. I then will open the file with the 32b ecm and check some basic items like injector constant, instead of being 22 pound like I just put in the bin it will have something like .16 and all the other settings will be crazy. If I use Tunerpro the stock chip will always read but once opened will sometimes be correct or be full of crazy numbers or even full of zeros, all on the stock chip. If a burn a new bin into a new chip, I get all crazy numbers or all full of zeros. Most of the time when verifying chip with buffer I end up with varification failed (not matched). If I check the chip after burning I end up with a blank check telling me the chip is blank most of the time using tunerpro for the burn but when using tunercats for the burn its not blank but still not correct. I used the burner for about 4 years with no problems untill 2 years ago and then just gave up. Now I have a 57 chevy with an 87 tpi waiting for a tune and need this to work.

Thank You
Kevin

Re: APU1 burn problem

Sounds like there might be an offset issue, with where the bin is placed on the EPROM.

What program are you using to burn the EPROMs?

The built in utility in TunerPro works great for me and sets the offsets automatically, when the right EPROM is selected and then the bin file loaded.

Re: APU1 burn problem

I am also using the built in burn utility in Tunerpro and it is automatically picking the correct offsets. I have checked that they are correct and they are the correct offsets. In tunercats the offsets are automatically picked and I can't see them or change them. I never had problems before and then one day everything just went wrong. I have also tried other offsets and other chips both the 27sf512 and at29c256. years ago some suggested that the chips had been damaged so I purched 10 new 512 chips from moates. I tried a few of these new chips and no luck. I think its in the AUP1. Everything is looking good on the computer and both programs are having the same problem. I updated both programs with the newest version and still a no go.

in tunerpro you may need to do some kind of data offset to burn... i think i had to make some kind of update to my software there to.

do a google search, something about changing one of the datafile positions to 67 bytes or something. or 63 and 4. or something like that....

also you may have to use tunerpro v4. i dont think I could get 5 to burn chips... or maybe it was datalogging i couldn't get it to use.

Almost sounds like there may be an issue with the programmer side of the APU1.

Get in contact with Craig at moates.net and see if he has any ideas on how to troubleshoot it.
