Help using Pro-Logic M980
Help using Pro-Logic M980
I was lucky enough to get one of these bad boys a while ago, and haven't been able to get it to interface with my computer. I was wondering if anyone out there could help me figure this out. I have an XP and Vista computer, and haven't been able to get it to work. I looked around for software or drivers, but was kind of hoping I could just use TunerPro. Really, I just need some hex editor that can output to this thing. Any help would be great, thanks!

What I can find on this item is that it is an EPROM programmer from 1980.
I would say that almost none of the current tuning programs will interface with it. Tuner Pro will only connect to Moates products, and IIRC maybe the Pocket Programmer II.
Is there not a program, even DOS based to go with it?
In the end I think you'll find it's much more advantageous to buy a currently available programmer.

Well, I got it for free, and I'm just kind of curious to see if I can get it working. I do have DOS on my desktop, which is something I haven't tried yet. I plan on getting EBL once I really tear into my car, but there's a guy on another forum with an '80 Caddy that needs a new PROM. I offered to burn him one for free if he could help me get this working. Plus it's kinda cool, imagine what the factory used when it was testing/tuning its cars.

It does! It's labeled as a "RS232 Communication Adapter." It has 1 female and 1 male parallel plugs, a baud rate selector, and two on/off switches. I don't have a parallel port, nor a parallel to USB adapter. If I pull it off, there's a serial DB-9 plug, but when I use my DB-9 to USB adapter (which is RS232), my computer doesn't see it.

That thing is really sweet for what it is. I remember seeing one at a computer show when I was a kid. Totally useless in todays time, but still cool to look at, if nothing else.
