Help with Datalog (8063 ECM)

Well i have an 88 Trans Am with the rare and irritating 8063 computer.Did a motor swap from the stock 305 TBI to a 350 Lo5 out of a Roadmaster. We had a chip made from TBI chips, but its not programmed right essentially. We're trying to data log my car.I just bought the ADL cable and we have 3 different programs on the Laptop. WinALDL,TunePro,and Datamaster. NONE of which log the car. Itll pick up some things, but no sensor data or anything to do with the motor or anything else. None of the programs work. And none of the programs have my computer as an option. We were told by a member on here that the 8746 computer option would pretty much log the same, but no change. And on Datamaster i was told that the 5.7 Liter, 4l60E transmission small truck option would work, Nothing happend. The car is connecting, but nothing is logging. The right com is set and everything. We wanna figure this out. Or if we CANT get it to work,we will go through the long process of swapping in a 8746 computer and getting ANOTHER chip made. We really want to get this all settled. Thanks for the help Guys

Re: Help with Datalog (8063 ECM)

I don't know why but I have never been able to have WinALDL and TunerPro work on same computer? One guy said he can with Windows XP... once I learned to use TunerPro I had no reason for WinALDL anymore although it was a long time friend.

But anyway I looked for a TunerPro $4D XDF and I had one, so I looked for the ADX and did not have one but the ALDL file said it was the same as $42 except for bit 17 byte 6... I think. So I changed my $42 to be correct for your car and there is now and XDF and ADX for that car.

Why not get an '8746 ECM & PROM from a L05 Caprice?

I've done a few conversions with the 8746 and do like it.

But what is wrong with "rare and irritating 8063" ? I've never even heard of one till this thread...

I do have a 8746 on the shelf and if it wasn't for the money I've spent on the 8063's chip I'd pitch this thing. To use the 8746 I'd have to get another chip made. If I only knew then what I know now....Ugghh

I don't understand. Why not an '8746 ECM from a Caprice that is running a L05?

It won't be perfect, but should run well...

I think all the 8746 ecm's have vats turned on. The 88 trans am doesn't have vats so the car wouldn't start with that ecm.
