Burning my own prom have a?

So I've been waiting to do my tpi swap for a while since I'm going from 89 Tbi to 92 SD TPI , the big hold up is the gauges and vss.

I just occurred to me since I'm burning my own prom could I use my factory Tbi vss (2000) and feed it straight to the 730 ecm? Change the numbers on the tune obviously but would it be possible to do so with no negative effects? I know the 730 needs a 4000 ppm signal but can I overcome that with my tune?

If not it was worth a shot, if it can work I'm getting my motor done and in, its hard to get my wife to go along with a 400+ $ purchase after how much I've put into the motor lol

Yes, you can use the 2K PPM optical VSS signal from the cluster and go right to the ECM with it. It uses a different pin input then the standard '7730 set up, along with needing to change an option flag in the calibration.

The option flag tells the ECM firmware to use the optical input instead of the magnetic input for the VSS.
