Yes, I switched to a full windows tablet and sold the Android tablet because the simulation was slow, and I didn't want to wait for CrossOver and Wine to run actual Windows with the Android because I had a feeling there were going to be issues with the layer. CrossOver was supposed to be released months ago, but I haven't heard anything, but then again I gave up waiting. Stick with a full Windows tablet Mastiff, works perfectly.

Re: EBL WUD for Android
I tried with a tablet running Windows 10 RT (XPS10), nogo.
I enabled dev mode on the tablet and attempted to side load, but it looks like we would need a version compiled for the arm processors, and then side loading should be easy enough.

Re: EBL WUD for Android
I posted real early in this thread...been running WUD on a 3-4 year old Lenovo Tablet 2 (win8.1 and then win10 32-bit) as well as a 2-3 year old Samsung tablet (win10 64-bit) with zero issues for years.
Windows RT will *not* work though, nor will anything with an ARM processor. Must be intel processor based product.
A suitable used tablet is easily under $100 on ebay all day long.

I scrubbed the idea of a tablet for now, but I did pick up an old HP netbook with an intel atom processor for $30, it's now my dedicated car computer.

Re: EBL WUD for Android
A coworker just got one of these: https://www.microsoftstore.com/store...ctID.608755100
Seems to run the full version of windows and it has decent resolution.
It also came with the usb adapters for the unit...
I'm thinking about picking one up, or hijacking his to see if it can install the drivers needed.
Also on the RT tablet, I did manage to get WUD to run on the thing, but I could not install drivers for the usb converter due to it needing a driver designed for ARM processors...

Re: EBL WUD for Android
Let us know if it works out. That's a price point I can deal with. I have a dusty old laptop in the garage that makes me nervous whether it'll even run next time I need it.

Re: EBL WUD for Android
I picked up one of those tablets and it runs everything fine.
The resolution is pretty high but i used the scaling function in win10 to adjust whats up where i like it.
I was also able to setup the usb to serial adapters no problem.
One issue is the single usb port, that port is also for charging...
I ordered a micro usb hub from amazon that has 3 normal sized usb and one dedicated charger port.
It should allow data connection along with a charger... I hope!

Re: EBL WUD for Android
I've finally started moving some projects I've been working on for a couple of years now into the Play store.
These will all be free - my way of giving back to the community that taught me so much about fuel injection and tuning.
First up is an EBL Flash data logger. This only logs - but it sure beats carrying a laptop around if you just want to capture data.
This should work with any Android 4 or newer device that supports "USB host" mode. I developed it on a Note 3 with the blue/white USB dongle that Rbob sold to go with my EBL a few years back but it should work with pretty much any popular dongle and device that supports USB host. You will need a USB to microUSB adapter cable to use this - about $5 from Amazon etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...tdatalog&hl=en
This is really bare bones but it should be extremely robust. Switching apps, phone calls etc. should not interrupt the data flow. Please give it a shot and if you have any issues email me at the email address listed in the store listing for best response (I don't get in here too much, esp. "off season" when the OT EBL vehicle is put away for the winter.)
Over the holidays I'll be releasing an enhancement to the DataLog that will give limited WUD capabilities. If this takes off next year I can have something closer to a full WUD. I already have one but I don't like the way the app is structured and the gauges look ugly so I'm going to learn from my mistakes of the first go-round and do a better version.
I have all of the EBL datastream figured out for the EBL Flash. The only two things I'm not 100% sure of are MAP readings for turbo/supercharged applications and the extended RPM table. If anyone can send me data log files for these two scenarios I'd appreciate it - that would help me nail down these last bits of uncertainly.
Everything else I know how to decode properly as far as I can tell. This is based on my own logs, as well as 10-15 different logs from various people that posted them here over the years, comparing the WUD export to my own code's interpretation of the same data stream.
Other than some some minor error (tenth of a percent in one of every 1000 or so samples IIRC) in the AE fields very very occasionally I am able to dump completely identical data that WUD would export to Excel from all the logs I've studied so far. My goal is to get to 100%.
I can't tell you how many hours I have into this - probably hundreds just figuring out the data decoding - so hopefully others can benefit from my long hours (its not work - I enjoy it and it keeps me out of trouble usually.)
I will not be releasing any code for this as I don't want to step on Rbob's toes - hopefully I haven't already - but if I did please let me know and I will remove this. I love the product and would never do anything to harm it.

Thank you for doing this!
Next huge want would be a way to switch the uploaded bin files!
What i want to do in the end is have a bin file that will not allow the car to run, and maybe another for times when i let someone else drive it, limit rpm and speed (like when its at a shop).

Yes I will be adding bank selection early next year.
I have a couple reports that the app might be having issues on some devices but success on others. I'll be releasing an update next week that will allow me to collect additional debugging information in these scenarios so stay tuned.

Re: EBL WUD for Android
Hi,
I released version 1.2 to the Play store last week.
- Added support for Android 6.0+ run-time permissions. This was causing the app not to function properly on newer devices in 1.1 unless you went into the app settings and granted it File access.
- A new graphical "spinner" plainly shows you good/bad data that is being received. Blue indicates good data. A red blink indicates bad data frame.
- Frame statistics are now displayed along with a data link integrity %.
- Data integrity % less than 99-100% will indicate issues with your cables, USB adapter, and so forth.
I'm working on 1.3 now and will definitely have some degree of WUD functionality in that release. Possibly bank switching too but I may have to defer that until the following update. ETA is probably early Jan 2017 for 1.3.

I have that, it works great.
the resolution is right also, however the ebl windows are a little small.
go into windpws display settings, there is a scaling feature that will let you adjust window sizes.

Re: EBL WUD for Android
Hello again,
Version 1.3 of Pocket Datalog will be released to Google Play this weekend. The improvements include:
- Bank selection (as requested by gibbles.)
- A pretty rough realtime display. No fancy gauges here, but it does show speed, rpm, tps, map, iac, cts, iat, current bank #, INT, BLM, Sa, SaRt, KnkCnt, sPW, aPW, DC, O2, and boost.
I still have two "holes" in my data model:
- turbo/supercharged applications vs. map
- extended RPM table.
If anyone can send me captures for either of these two scenarios I'd appreciate it. This will help me verify the model works properly for operating conditions I cannot create in my own vehicle. If anyone has any other suggestions for features just let me know and I'll see what I can do.
v1.4 is going to hopefully be a huge step cosmetically. I'm going to introduce multiple screens you can flip between and gauge widgets. I'd estimate ~ 2-3 months until that is released.
Thanks,
-jdarg

I got the update, thanks!
However I probably won't get a chance to really give the software a good test until this spring.

Re: EBL WUD for Android
Hi,
Had a few mins. and thought I'd check in. I'd say I am about a month away from the release of 1.4. The tabbed layout has been completed. The WUD display is about 95% but I'm still kind of struggling to get a layout I like that will "work" on a phone with a smallish screen. I'm close though.
I ended up creating my own speedo/tach and linear gauges because I didn't like the existing choices out there for various cosmetic and functional reasons. It was definitely more effort than I was expecting but I think you'll like what I've done with those.
I'm going to start a dedicated thread to Pocket DataLog hopefully this weekend. I'll put up some teaser shots of 1.4 at that time and see if I can get some feedback on what I've done.
Thanks,

I ended up creating my own speedo/tach and linear gauges because I didn't like the existing choices out there for various cosmetic and functional reasons. It was definitely more effort than I was expecting but I think you'll like what I've done with those.
I'm going to start a dedicated thread to Pocket DataLog hopefully this weekend. I'll put up some teaser shots of 1.4 at that time and see if I can get some feedback on what I've done.
Thanks,
-jdarg

It would be nice to be able to perform all of your tuning and monitoring in a single application.

Hi gibbles,
How did you send these to me? I'm not seeing anything in my PM here nor in any of my email accounts. PM me again through thirdgen.
Also I've started a dedicated thread for Pocket DataLog:

Thanks,

Re: EBL WUD for Android
Yes, but I'm not inclined to add any bin editing until I get more of the WUD capabilities added into the app.
I actually built a bin editor for Android a few years ago but never released it. It seemed to work 100% for GM TBI/TPI BINs/XDFs though, including the EBL XDF. But its really rough and needs to be re-done. Eventually I'll get to it but it isn't likely to happen until at least 2nd half of 2017.

Re: EBL WUD for Android
PM me through thirdgen and let me know if you are using the blue/white FTDI serial adapter that was sold with the EBL?
Thanks,

If something was custom written for the EBL you could be creative with the layout, include auto tuning tools, etc.
Kinda like how Tunerstudio is.
There is a similar app (windows) for my '94 Corvette called $EEHACK, and while not a complete tuning tool I think it's a start in the right direction.
