The stock AUJM is a 16 KB file, so that is correct. GM did use a larger chip then required at times. They just put the calibration into the upper half of it.

The checksum is a test that verifies that no bits have flipped in the physical PROM.

You can use the MEMCAL from the '88 Vette in the Firebird. Although it may have VATs enabled and the fan relay may be wired in reverse. IOW, fans on when should be off and vice-versa.

Re: prom /cal-pak?

thanx for the info,id like to ask you another question reguarding the same cars,computers,ect... in the trans am the check engine lite stays on all the time and i cant get the data logger to tap into the computer.im useing the correct data stream cuz its works on the vette.i tried the flashing check engine lite for codes but it wont flash eaither.now if i put the stock aujm in the trans am i can get it to flash 12 code but it wont start because of the vats.that chip runs well in the vette.so i copied it exactly with the vats disabled and it wont start it or flash any code.what am i doing wrong? any input ? thanx jon

If you don't get the SES blink at key-on, engine-off, the ECM isn't running from the PROM. Which explains the no ALDL connect and the lack of being able to flash the codes.
